A 17th century Louis X111 period Walnut side table. Circa 1640-1650. Good size rectangular top with bread board ends & moulded edge. Very attractive & well executed deep barley twist supports & cross stretcher.
Stylish hand turned barley-twist legs with square block joints, accented stretchers of the same style. Table base raised on four turned bun feet ( later replaced feet made from antique timbers) Some restoration to finish, which tends to enhance the rich patina of the turned Barley twist base.
A good early French provincial table. The rectangular planked top with rounded edges & bread-board designed ends sitting above a simple apron.
As with many of our early country house antiques, French provincial side-tables such as this one are rarely available to the Australian antiques market.
